Community Involvement

The entire team at Laurelwood Dental is very passionate about helping those less fortunate and unable to meet their dental needs both locally and internationally. Drs. Rice and Hall are involved in numerous charitable programs including:

• Senior Smile Dental Service, sponsored by the Multnomah Dental Society, where plan-approved seniors receive dental treatment at half price To apply, please call 503-513-5010.
• Donated Dental Services program, run by the National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped, where approved individuals with disabilities receive dental treatment donated by the doctors To apply, please all 503-774-3898.
• Donated Dental Day, where the staff and doctors volunteer their time and materials for the day. We forward all proceeds from that day to a non-profit organization
• Give Kids a Smile Day, the American Dental Association’s day in February where offices like ours and OHSU treat children from the local community at no charge
• Medical Teams International, an international program providing dental and health care to people in need all around the world. Dr. Rice has volunteered his services in Indonesia, Cambodia, Romania and Honduras.
• Sealant Screenings, Multnomah County health department free screenings of elementary children for sealant need and sealant treatment.
• Missions of Mercy, a free dental clinic held once per year at the Convention Center in November. Last year 1500 patients were seen by dental volunteers for over two days.
• Dr. Rice is part of a small group of dentists that is helping Creston Dental School stay open to help local children receive the dental treatment they need, free of charge.
• We support many local schools through auction donations and volunteering. Some of the schools we support each year include Laurelhurst Elementary, Alameda Elementary, Sabin Elementary, Grant High School, The Madeleine School, and All Saints School.

We encourage our patients to get involved in the spirit of giving, and include them in our numerous drives. In the past we have collected hygiene items and donated them to the local organization Sisters of the Road, a non-profit that helps the homeless. We participated in "Operation Shoebox" this last year, where we collected school supplies for children in Honduras.
